After working in South Florida for 6 years, she decided to take some time to travel. 23 years later, she is still working locum tenens in Emergency Departments all over the United States. 

Professionally, she keeps busy helping to write and administer the Oral Board Exam for the Board of Certification in Emergency Medicine/American Board of Physician Specialties. She also serves on the Graduate Training Committee as well goes to various Emergency Medicine Fellowship sites and inspects the programs to insure that the fellowship training meets minimum standards. 

Graduating with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988, Dr. Adams has over three decades of experience in her field.

She is board-certified in family practice through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, an organization that provides board certification to qualified osteopathic physicians who specialize in delivering comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, genders, and addressing all parts of the body. She is also board-certified in emergency medicine through the American Board of Physician Specialties. 

In affiliation with several professional organizations, Dr. Adams is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Physician Specialists.  

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician is a physician who works at an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients. They care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.

On a more personal note, Dr. Adams is living in North Central Florida and continuing to travel. In her spare time, she serves in the Medical Reserve Corps, and is in charge of a free clinic run through the local Health Department. She also takes care of a menagerie of rescue animals.
